About IloiloViews

I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it.  — Voltaire

THE HISTORY of journalism in the Philippines is never complete without mentioning Iloilo. National hero Graciano Lopez-Jaena, editor of the La Solidaridad, was from here. The Lopez family started a media empire in this part of the archipelago. The Iloilo Press Club, established in 1937, is the first provincial press club in the country.

Iloilo never ran out of good journalists – journalists of the thinking breed, the opinion-makers. They are not just plain reporters who write on the 5Ws and 1Hs (what, who, why, where, when and how). Iloilo’s journalists write with a 6th W and a 2nd H – whence and hence. They are the kind of journalists who explain. They don’t just criticize, but they enlighten.

This blog featuring social and political columns written by Ilonggo journalists was primarily established to celebrate their writing prowess and their achievements. It also features articles and trivias about the city, the province, the people and Iloilo’s rich heritage.
