Mayor Raul Gonzalez will never leave Congressman Jerry Treñas
Posted on March 7th, 2008THE WAY to do is to be – Lao-Tse
For reason of political survival and convenience, future Mayor Raul Gonzalez, Sr. and next Iloilo City Rep. Jerry P. Treñas will never severe their ties, at least not yet, until the 2010 elections.
In fact, Gonzalez could be preparing to sacrifice his son, Rep. Raul, Jr. in the imminent horse trading, and probably convince him to go back to private sector and pave the way for Treñas who will graduate as city mayor in 2010.
Gonzalez, Sr. cannot afford to be gluttonous politically by dictatorially placing all his family members in major positions without considering the ambition and welfare of other political titans in the city like Treñas, Vice Mayor Patrick Jed Mabilog, former Vice Mayor Victor VL Facultad, former Rep. Paeng Lopez-Vito, among other big guns.
He knows that after he declared last week his intention to run for city mayor in 2010, a possible collision course with Treñas is now possible especially if he would insist to field his son for reelection versus Treñas. -

As an astute politician, Gonzalez has probably realized that if he wants to conveniently secure the mayoral post without having to engage Treñas in unnecessary scuffle, the best move is to tandem with him and temporarily get rid of his son who can always go back either as city mayor (to replace his father whose health is still suspect) in 2013 or challenge Treñas for congressman in 2013.
Another reason why Gonzalez should not separate with Treñas is the seemingly unstable political situation the country is facing today. As one of the most controversial figures in the cabinet of Pres. Arroyo, Gonzalez has earned so many enemies in the national level; he can not afford to antagonize the local forces especially now that he has already crossed the Rubicon river.
Nobody can read the scenario that will unfold in the next weeks to come, but in the most unlikely event that Pres. Arroyo will fall, Gonzalez will be forced to retreat and seek solace in his territory—in the loving arms of Treñas, of course, who is also Pres. Arroyo’s loyal ally.

I was one of the three invited guests in the February 16, 2008 edition of “Consiensia sang Banwa”, a cable program hosted by lawyer Dan Cartagena “live” every Saturday morning (10 am to 11 am) where we feverishly tackled the ZTE-NBN scandal and the smoldering lava now threatening to cascade into Malacañang.
My fellow guests—Lemuel Fernandez, editor-in-chief of The Daily Guardian, and Herbert Vego, publisher-editor of Health and Wealth—took turns in lambasting Pres. Arroyo for what is happening in the country today. They predicted the downfall of the President owing to the involvement of her key trusted men, including her husband, to the ZTE-NBN anomaly.

Why should Gonzales Sr sacrifice his son? Why would he want to be mayor at a very late age, when he can retire comfortably?
There is not a note of moral purpose here…It’s an ego thing, it gets not only to the kidneys but to the head.
Your calling Gonzales future mayor sound..balimbing

We all know that Raul Gonzalez Sr. is nothing but a drug protector, who loves “EXTORTION”, no breeding and a lifeless imbecile. Who would ever love this person to take the position when he himself runs the whole system like a syndicate, gangster, mafia. I really hope and pray that this person won’t win the election and even find a place in the higher society.
