We wish we could believe them
Posted on September 19th, 2008TIME was when we believed what we saw in print and heard on radio. But now we can’t even believe what we see on digital TV.
These days – take it from Jun Lozada — even the Supreme Court could interpret a kidnapping incident as a tourism event.

“Don’t blame Dinagyang,” cries Dinagyang exec Ben Jimena, “for the low scores of public high school students in the National Achievement Test.”
In that case, the students should blame themselves for spending sleepless nights in October to January while practicing Dinagyang choreography instead of reviewing their lessons.
Meanwhile, Ben and Tawa laugh on their way to the bank.

Ping Lacson blames Manny Villar for “double payment” of a road flyover costing P200 million; Villar barks back, saying that the P400 million is good for two flyovers in Metro Manila.
Haven’t Iloilo City Mayor JPT told them about the substandard Infante flyover here that really cost more than double at P480m?
To save Senate’s image, Ping and Manny should unite in probing whether somebody from Malacañang made money from it.

“Please forgive us,” asked Nema, wife of Edgar Cordero, the murdered suspect in the murder of Ajuy Vice Mayor Ramon Rojas Jr.
Edgar had to earn much to support their 10 children, she said, short of justifying the livelihood he had chosen. He could not support them on daily wage.

GMA’s silence on Winston Garcia’s anomaly must be golden.

“We have achieved the highest economic growth in 13 years,” according to Jesus Dureza.
He’s not lying. His “we” does not refer to us but to the First Couple and other high government officials, including himself.

Yes, the world is interested in hearing the leader of Asia’s most corrupt nation.

We once heard Iloilo City councilor Tongtong Plagata insinuate that traffic aides get “tong” from certain jeepney drivers for “right” to violate traffic rules. A bike store is allegedly the drivers’ dropping point.
Incidentally, the traffic aides receive only a meager monthly P5,000 take-home pay from City Hall.
Well, Tongtong, ikaw man sueldohan starvation wage, indi ka magbaton tong?
